Librarians are always recommending books to people, even amongst ourselves! A fellow children’s librarian, Dennise at Morgan Hill, convinced me to give the Betsy Tacy series a try; which I did and have been enjoying very much, so perhaps I can convince you to give them a try.  They were written the the 1940s and 1950s, but the stories are set in Mankato, Minnesota during the late 1800s.
